Divine Prophet set for million dollar Golden Rose

Top Sydney jockey Tommy Berry is looking forward to Saturday’s Gr.1 Golden Rose Stakes riding Proisir’s full-brother Divine Prophet. Berry, confident his colt will feature strongly, mentions October’s Cox Plate as a possibility for the Hawkes-trained son of Choisir.

"I’ve ridden him (Divine Prophet) this week and he definitely hasn’t gone backwards. He’s going along very nicely, he’s really come on from the last run which is good to see (watch RACE REPLAY),” commented Berry when interviewed on Sunday’s THOROUGHBRED WEEKLY.

“I think Winx has the older horses covered (in the Cox Plate). I think she showed that last year and in everything she’s done since , so I think it’s going to take a new kid on the block to knock her off and this bloke could be it!

"He’s untapped at the moment, he’s just doing what we ask of him. And his win the other day, you just don’t see horses do that very often. So hopefully he draws a barrier and can settle handier in the Golden Rose, and in that sort of race it’s a bunch of really good colts. I don’t think there’s a lot between a lot of them so I think he’s going to need a bit of luck to steal the win.”
