The Melbourne Cup winner Prince of Penzance (Pentire) impressed with his gallop between races at Warrnambool on Wednesday ahead of Saturday's Gr.2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m).
"I'm absolutely delighted with that," said Darren Weir's stable foreman Jarrod McLean after Prince of Penzance partnered stable mate Howard Be Thy Name (Redoute's Choice) over 1600m.
"Prince Of Penzance is on track to be competitive on Saturday and then we have a really exciting two weeks heading into the Moonee Valley Cup."
John Allen partnered Prince Of Penzance, as will be the case on Saturday. McLean said he was not surprised that Prince Of Penzance travelled so kindly throughout the workout.
"He's not dour by any means - he's very sharp."
