Rich Hill Stud in association with leading English Thoroughbred farm Lanwades, and Victoria and Anthony Pakenham, announce that unbeaten Champion 2YO and English Classic winner
SIR PERCY will return to Rich Hill for the 2010 Southern Hemisphere breeding season.
SIR PERCY was an outstanding 2YO remaining unbeaten after winning four races from four starts including the
G2 Vintage Stakes at Goodwood and the
G1 Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket defeating G1 winners
HORATIO NELSON,
PALACE EPISODE and
RED CLUBS. Trained in England by Marcus Tregoning,
SIR PERCY was the highest rated English 2YO in 2005 and ended the season with a timeform rating of 122.
In his first start back as a 3YO he finished second in the
G1 English 2000 Guineas to World Champion Miler
GEORGE WASHINGTON. SIR PERCY retained his champion rating after a brilliant win in the
G1 Derby at Epsom defeating triple G1 winner
DYLAN THOMAS. To put his race performances into perspective, in the past 40 years only six horses have won the Dewhurst Stakes-Derby double and among these are champion racehorses and breed shaping sires
MILL REEF and
NIJINSKY.
Rich Hill Stud principal John Thompson has no doubt SIR PERCY has the right credentials to succeed at stud in Australasia.
“
SIR PERCY was an early 2YO winning a 1200m maiden in May. He trained on to win two of the world’s most respected
G1 races the
Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket and the
Epsom
Derby. He had a tremendous turn of foot and he acted on good to firm ground.”
