Momentum Continues For Rich Hill With New Sponsorship Announcement
The good times continue to roll at Rich Hill Stud with excellent results on and off the track to follow on from an outstanding NZ National Yearling Sales series at Karaka.
The principals of Rich Hill have seized the opportunity to further strengthen their support of the industry by sponsoring the time-honoured Gr 3 Thompson Handicap at Trentham. The Thompson family and stud director Alan Galbraith have welcomed the opportunity with the RACE group to support the autumn feature to be contested on 20th March. "We sponsor a number of races at key venues, including the prestigious the Gr 2 Rich Hill Mile at Ellerslie and we're delighted to extend our commitment to Trentham," John Thompson said. "We have enjoyed great support from the Central Districts both in the sale ring and for our stallions and we're keen to further build on our association with breeders all over the country. "Domestic prize money is one of the key factors in encouraging new investment and I'm sure all breeders appreciate our efforts."
Meanwhile recent results on the racetrack have confirmed Pentire's position as one of Australasia's best sources of Group performing racehorses.
Home-bred Mufhasa was back to his brilliant best last Sunday in the Gr 1 Otaki-Maori WFA where he downed a hot field with a powerhouse display of front-running.
Larry's Never Late also credited Pentire with yet another stakes success when he gave a strong staying performance to claim the Gr 3 Launceston Cup.
It's a huge weekend of Gr 1 racing coming up on both sides of the Tasman and Rich Hill's interests are strong on both the home and away fronts. Pentire is well and truly to the fore with genuine feature race contenders Corporal Jones (Telecom NZ Derby), Rangirangdoo (Chipping Norton Stakes) and Zarita (Australian Cup).
Rich Hill also enjoyed a fabulous time at Karaka with the New Zealand Bloodstock Sale exceeding all pre-auction expectations. During the Premier Session the stud sold its highest-ever priced yearling in New Zealand with the Pentire x Amritsar Jet colt realising $600,000. "We would like to thank all our clients for their support and wish them every racetrack success for the future with their purchases," Thompson said.
