John Thompson - Managing Director

Graduated from Massey University with a B.Ag.Sc degree in 1984. John's international work experience and travels has enabled him to build up a network of contacts in all the major breeding countries. He is very much a ' hands on' manager and is supported by an experienced and dedicated staff.

Colleen Thompson- Manager

Colleen's role in the business is managing the marketing, promotions and human resources. She has a Bachelor of Education with a double major in Music. Colleen has completed 17 years of teaching specialising in Performing Arts and also has  a NZIM Certificate in Business Management.

Mike Rennie - Communications Manager



Mike has a degree in Sport Science and Management from Otago University. He has a passion for racing and has been involved in the industry for six years. Karyn Vincent - Administration Manager

 Karyn has a wealth of experience in Office Administration as she was Practice Manager for the Te Aroha Veterinary Services for 17 years and most recently worked in sales for the last 2 years selling computer software for Veterinary Practices throughout Australasia. Clients and customers will be very impressed with her enthusiasm and efficiency.

Sheel Drego - Broodmare Manager


Sheel brings a great deal of international experience to his role as Broodmare Manager.
He has previously worked at major international studs such as Cambridge Stud, Coolmore Ireland and Ashford Stud in Kentucky. He also travelled with shuttle stallion TheWayYouAre to Windsor Park Stud for the 2010 breeding season.
Sheel will be a valuable addition to the Rich Hill team.

Charlotte Hamilton - Yearling Manager

Charlotte

Charlotte has a Bachelor of Sport and Leisure Studies. She was also a Sergeant in the Air training Corps. She has a passion for thoroughbreds and has worked for Ascot Farm, Arrowfield and Windsor park Stud. She is meticulous about the health and  presentation of yearlings and is relishing her new role in management. 

Bill Ewen- Veterinarian

Bill Ewen is a partner in Marks Ewen & Associates and is one of the most respected Equine vets in New Zealand. With 30 years experience in the industry, Bill prides himself in keeping abreast with current veterinary procedures and techniques.

Steve Clark - Farm Manager

Steve - nicknamed 'Stevie Wonder' for his impressive ability to fix anything and everything, is a qualified A grade mechanic as well as an experienced horseman. He has worked a farm for over 30 years. Steve is responsible for stock and pasture management for the three Rich Hill properties.

Grant Atkinson - Farrier

Grant is one the most progressive and knowledgeable farriers in the country. His skills ensure that our horses are given every opportunity to develop good feet and general conformation.
