Foreword
The international ratings of New Zealand bred middle distance horses have never been higher. The
continued success of these horses has created great demand from our major markets such as Australia,
Hong Kong and Singapore for our ‘classic’ product.
The announcement that Rich Hill with the support of some of Australasia’s leading breeders has
purchased a 50% interest in VADAMOS, a Group 1 winning son of German sire legend Monsun, has had
a positive response from all sectors of the industry. The international markets believe that Vadamos is
exactly the type of horse who should be standing in New Zealand and the feedback confirms that his
progeny will be well sought at future sales.
Vadamos is regarded as both the ‘fastest’ and ‘best bred’ sire-son of Monsun. His 2016 Timeform Rating
of 126 followed his brilliant win in France’s highest rated mile, the Gr.1 Prix du Moulin at Chantilly. A
magnificent individual and a horse of exceptional ability, Vadamos offers the ideal outcross for Danehill
and our major sire lines.
Rich Hill’s four other stallions present New Zealand breeders the opportunity to access dominant
sire-lines and top class international race performance.
With four individual Group 1 winners over the last two racing seasons champion sire PENTIRE has
cemented his position as New Zealand’s leading active sire of Group One winners (16). Rich Hill’s
foundation sire will cover a strictly limited book in 2017.
Street Cry’s magnificent dual Group 1 winning son SHOCKING continues his rise up the New Zealand
sire ranks. His commercial appeal reached new levels at Karaka earlier this year with a top price of
$300,000 for his outstanding colt out of Pinders Prize. He has already sired 11 stakes performers from his
first two crops, and is on the way to establishing himself as one of our next great cups and classic sires.
The early stud career of multiple Australian Group 1 performer PROISIR could not have started in better
fashion. He was New Zealand’s most popular first season sire with 145 mares in 2015, and in 2016 his full
brother Divine Prophet won the prestigious Group 1 Caulfield Guineas. His own champion sire Choisir
sired four Group 1 winners around the world in the space of 6 months this season. Proisir’s first crop
weanlings sold up to $65,000 at Karaka in May, and the foundations are now laid for a very successful
stud career ahead.
The career of New Zealand’s champion first season sire in 2015/16
JIMMY CHOUX is starting to gather momentum. At this time (June) he
has had 20 first-crop winners in New Zealand, Australia, Japan,
Singapore and Macau, including three stakes performers. His
second-crop includes unbeaten two-year-olds Bostonian and Jimmy
Lincoln, who both look great spring classic prospects.
Rich Hill continues to offer breeders the best possible service with an
experienced and specialised staff and superb facilities to complement our
exceptional line up of stallions. Please contact us if we can assist with
any aspect of your bloodstock investment.
